I'm a big fan of Greg Rucka but JH Williams' art is jaw dropping! Here're the covers:

I just got the first issue, and I can't wait to read it later tonight. Will post my opinion of it later, although I can say that I have a feeling it'll be a very positive one. |

WOW! Williams' art was mind blowing! His layouts were different and I couldn't help but just ... stare.
Rucka followed his continuity - the plot closely follows events after the Crime Bible arc. Kate has an ax to grind with the cult since well - they stabbed her as human sacrifice.
There's a secondary story on the Question - a different story arc which I hope will merge with main one in the future.
Rucka and Williams met my expectations. But these are my first impressions - I want to read it again. I want to read the Crime Bible again - just to see how it all flows together. |

Many apologies, I totally forgot about this topic. <_<
But, I loved it. Simple as that. I know it's been said a billion times by now, but Williams' art is wonderful. I love the dynamic layouts, I love how vampirish Kate looks, I love how different the Batwoman pages are colored when compared to how the Kate Kane pages are colored, it's just all so stunning. I'd say that it's probably the best looking book in the market right now.
The writing is okay, nothing spectacular, just setup for now. But I like where it's going. Hopefully, things will get even more interesting next issue.
As for the backup, it was okay. Nothing much happened, but I'm giving it a little slack because it was only eight pages long. It's a nice bonus, I suppose, and I'd like to see where it goes from here. Oh, and I agree, I want to see Kate's and Rene's stories intertwine eventually.
Anyway, I'd like to share a little news about the title. The Question co-feature will be getting an upgrade eventually. It'll go from eight to ten pages while Batwoman goes from 22 to 20.
And, this little tidbit from SDCC:
| Quote: |
Rucka then announced that after seven issues with Williams, Jock (of The Losers fame) will come on board for three issues. Following that, the Question backups will move to the front of the book for a time, with either Williams or Jock drawing a 10-page Batwoman Second Feature. Then Williams (and Kate Kane) will come back to the front of the book. |

The latest issue is incredible and breathtaking. It's the showdown between Batwoman and "Alice" - Kate's father is kidnapped and Alice wants to kill millions in Gotham by spraying a poisonous gas using a commandeered military plane.
I really didn't know what to do first - read the dialogue or just stare at the fantastic art. I have always been a fan of Greg Rucka and I love how he characterizes women and his narratives and plots. After all the punching and kicking, Rucka throws a twist that will definitely took the story further and the potential to further the characterizations is great.
I also like the Question's story but after Williams' art, medyo nakaka-walang gana basahin... So I stop, read some X-men, then go back to see what happened to Renee. |

Detective Comics #858
SPOILERS!!!
OMG!! They're sisters! Kate and Alice/Beth are TWINS!!!! OK - so medyo telanovela-ish but I love the twist! Willaims' art in the flashbacks was great - it was much simpler and colors muted except for the red hair of the twins which sorta rubbed it in that I should have had at least an idea that they were sisters. Anyway, we find out what happened to Kate's mom. Mom and kids were kidnapped and Kate was supposed to be the only survivor. Seeing your mother tied and shot in the head and your sister being covered up all bloody will frak someone up big time.
The Question's arc ended - saved all the women that were supposed to be trafficked. K lang.
Lookee look at the art! Go buy the comics - sobrang worth it! Babalik-balikang basahin promise!
